Please add method to make DOCX reports read only
Please add method to make DOCX reports read only. The DOCX spec says you can do this by setting the documentProtection tag in settings.xml. In Java you can use the Apache POI library to do this using the XWPFDocument class.

create a report comparison tool
This would compare two reports to see if there are any differences in appearance.
Would be useful to those you frequently upgrade the engine and need to make sure that generated reports (that were working fine before the upgrade) still appear as expected.

I spent some time and created a POC of how this kind of functionality can currently be achieved using formatting supported by designer. The table is dynamically generated with the appropriate number of columns and rows. If this solution fails to address your problem, please enter another request and further illustrate how the problem cannot be resolved with this solution.

Ability to schedule a report to be run multiple times pulling in parameters from a select statement
Alot of potential customers ask if they can run a template multiple times using the result of a select to plug in parameters into a template. One example is mail merge. Currently the only way to accomplish this is in the engine, but alot of people that do not have development teams or no programming experience will not want to do this. This should be integrated into autotag, maybe call it autotag ultra? or it could be a seperate add-on to autotag.
7 votesWindward has discontinued its AutoTagMax product which offered the ability to schedule and run multiple reports from the AutoTag desktop application. This feature request was related to that product functionality.
The Windward Engine and its RESTful based engine allow for this functionality. The Windward AutoTag desktop solution is targeted at template design and testing. For product and batch processing of templates, the Windward Engine is required.

Currently windward supports ToC(Table of Contents) in docx file but not ToF(Table of Figures)
Generating docx report using windward updates/supports only ToC not ToF(Table of Figures). This is a much needed feature when dynamically generating reports as a word file. It would be great if this feature is added to windward.

Consistent color for series in chart - Basic Functionality

We are creating chart for lot of Reports, but there is no way that we can provide consistent color for a particular series. For example For [High] color always should be red, irrespective of the number of series is available. Allow drag-and-drop of stored procedures from the Data Bin
There is already a Wizard for specifying the parameters that get passed--why not be able to drag in a table that gets pre-populated based on the number of fields returned, the same way that dragging a table or view from the Data Bin works?

ForEach order='row' - Too Many Queries
When using a ForEach order=row inside another ForEach loop the number of queries performed multiplies e.g. If you have an outer ForEach loop which retrieves 5 entries, and an inner ForEach loop with order=row you get:
- Call to initial outer ForEach
- Call to initial outer ForEach
- Loop over each inner ForEach (5 calls)
- Call to initial out For Each
- Look over each inner ForEach (5 calls)

OData: build queries by use of OData expands
The Data Bin presents the entities with its navigation properties (expand). Would be great to use the tag editor and the wizard to create queries with filters using odata expands.

Add color picker to Conditional Formatting Rule Manager
Dear Windward,
To select a color in the Format wizard, a color picker would be very helpfull instead of entering hex values manually.

While it is not ideal to use a color picker outside of the app, our recommendation is to use this workaround and use the hex from the outside color picker. Highlight corresponding open and close tags when selected
Similar to how code editors will highlight a closing bracket when an open bracket is selected (and vise-versa) to easily determine what is contained in the brackets and identify the scope of everything, I think it would be useful if the same idea was introduced with tags. For instance if a user selects and open foreach tag, then the corresponding closing foreach tag would also be highlighted.
This would make it a lot easier with massive templates and a bunch of loop and if-conditional nesting to find what belongs to what loop or conditional. This way if a conditional block…

I am happy to tell you this functionality is already supported! Select the opening tag (forEach, if, etc) and click the “Select Tag” button under the Tags section of the Windward ribbon and you will see a section of the template highlighted until the closing tag (endForEach, endIf, etc). Centralized Logging
We would like the ability to take the log events generated from Windward and deposit them to a centralized logging repository, one that takes all events logged for the entire enterprise. We use SEQ for this, mostly utilizing the Serilog's framework to perform the logging. However, NLog, the current logging framework used by Windward, does support logging to SEQ, and thus what is really needed is the ability to log those events to different repositories, depending on the needs of the consumer.
Alternatively, if we had the ability to provide an extended class or implemented interface to the .NET engine…

AutoTag not to process an Excel spreadsheet
Add the possibility in Excel to tell AutoTag not to process a spreadsheet when generating a report as an Excel file.
It would be useful to create a PivotTable in a spreadsheet in the template file and then have it in the generated Excel report.

We reviewed this idea, and we think that your issue should be resolved in newer versions of the Engine and Windward Designer. Pivot tables should still appear in the output of an Excel template. Closing this idea as declined since this is now the case.

RESTful Engine Error Response
While processing through a dataset I use the following code:
if(report.GetStatus() == Report.Status.Error)What needs to be added is a way to see and report back to the user what failed. Why is the report in an error state.
6 votesI wanted to follow up on this suggestion. We have made many improvements to the RESTful Engine in recent years, so I wanted to ask if this was still an issue for you. We are looking to improve our errors in the future to be more clear, so if this is still an issue we will consider adding it to that effort.

Merge the printed documents
We have letters printed based on the letter (unique)id so when there are 100 letters for example we do have 100 letters(documents) printed which is great and that is how we anticipate the outcome, along with that we have a mail merge process that merges all 100 individual letters to one document, this way the team which prints the letter will have to send the one file to the machine for printing all 100 letters instead sending 100 different individual letters. Bring back the Gauge Tag
While there are a lot of chart options available in version 14 of Auto Tag, as well as native Word charts, we would love to be able to use gauges for certain data depictions. Are there any plans to bring this tag back?

wizard can't be used to specify repeated nodes
If we have repeated sections e.g.

Windward Tags need to support Tick Mark
We have bought your software windward tag and about to go live and the pdf needs to mandatorily support tick mark instead of x mark.
Windward Support Team,
We have checkboxes to design user choices in Auto Tag Windward form, but when we generate the pdf , windward is not generating a user friendly checkbox UI element as part of pdf generation. Windward puts a x mark what we need is a tick mark
In the attached image it is indicated very clearly that at the top section where there is a x mark is what windward generates .

Throw exception if document output = Null
If I design a template, and the output results in no content displayed, can Windward send a system-level notification (e.g. throw an exception in the Java engine)?
Ideally, if the output is null, no document would be generated or sent, or Windward would communicate that the document is blank.

We recommend that you check the variables for your output document that could cause it to output a blank document and use this information to make a decision before document generation instead of responding to an exception afterwards.
