Some of our most innovative features originate with the users of our software. Please use this forum to submit ideas for new features and enhancements to existing features. The more votes from users from different Customers an idea receives, the more likely the feature will be added in the near future.


How can we improve the newest version of Windward Core?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Designer Input Parameter type Boolean

    Designer supports a number of types for template variables, but not type Boolean.
    We read the types of the template variables in order to decide which interaction element to provide to the user on our application's GUI.
    For some cases a number of tick boxes shall be provide on the GUI.

  4. Chart with multi-level axis

    Hi Windward team!

    Multi-level axis is a standard excel feature but it is not currently supported by Windward.

    It would be very useful so that - for instance - we can group locations by priority, or by area.

    See attached screenshot.

    Our priority would be to get it in Word templates.

  5. Faithful chart element rendering to pdf and html

    Faithful reproduction of Word rendering of charts for pdf and html, without using the Word rendering option. In particular, support all the series and series point label options, also the ability to add a "Picture or texture fill" into series "data label shapes" as a fill.

  7. Ability to view number of pages rendered by environment

    A way to identify the number of pages are executed per environment to determine if we are nearing to allowed license and get alerts to make a decision on increasing the Max Allow usage/Over usage without any disruption to client functionality. Additionally this feature helps in identifying if there is any unwarranted executions happening on a specific environment.

    The page output per machine for a specified time range will be added to the windward store interface for FLEX Licensed Customers. More advanced features related to alerts and programmatic access to this information may be added in future version of the Windward Store.

  8. Excel worksheet display or be dropped based on value from data

    There is a need to hide or show Excel worksheet based on value we are getting. That could work with IF tag where value "true" shows tab and value "false" hides tab.

  11. Enhanced Text Form Field Properties for PDF Output

    Please add support for additional text form field properties for use in PDF output. Specifically:
    1. Multi-line fields (text wraps, carriage return support)
    2. Character limits (text can be entered up to character limit)
    3. Scroll long text (vertical scroll bar is automatically added to compensate for text that extends beyond the boundaries of multi-line text fielt)
    4. Auto font size (as a user types in text, the font size changes to fit the text in the box)

  12. Include Rich Text Control in PDF output

    We want to generate PDF forms, so we are using different Word form controls. We found that plain text control is exported into the PDF output as a PDF field, however it has some limitations with text length and wrapping. We are very interested on using rich text controls, since they allow better formatting, longer and wrapped text and inserting tags inside the control to pre-fill the PDF form field.

  13. Escape key to exit the Edit Tag window

    Would be great if we can exit the Edit Tag window by pressing ESC key.
    Minor improvement - agree - but can be frustrating as it is part of basic standard usability.

  14. Add the ability to format output data in Chart Tag

    This would be similar to the formatting that can be applied to an Out Tag through the Properties tab. This would help to format data that's displayed in a Chart data table fields.

  17. Table of Contents /t field code not performing as expected - Feature

    /t seems to be broken when it is used in Table of Contents. When generating a doc output, the TOC ignores the /t and includes all of the headings/styles in the document. Updating the TOC in the output fixes it, which means something is occurring in the generation of the output.

    In addition, when multiple unique TOC's are in a document, all of the TOC's will break if only ONE TOC has the /t field.

    Deleting /t and only using /o is the current mediocre workaround. But it would be great if /t could work so we could use our…

  18. Use an OUT tag in a graph title

    I want to produce a series of graph for different equipment types, and put the equipment type in each graph title.
    There is a work around (put the graph title outside of the graph) which is ok for any advanced user. However, our plan is to give access to Windward Designer to a large crowd of users from our clients. These users will have limited support and training, i.e. each work around becomes a barrier. The expectation is that you should be able to put an OUT tag in the title

  20. PDF/A-3 support

    Dear Windward team,

    the Java engine already has the ability to render PDF/A-1b compliant files. Would it be possible to extend it to other PDF/A conformance levels, mainly PDF/A-3?
