Some of our most innovative features originate with the users of our software. Please use this forum to submit ideas for new features and enhancements to existing features. The more votes from users from different Customers an idea receives, the more likely the feature will be added in the near future.


How can we improve the newest version of Windward Core?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  2. Support for Office document properties

    This feature request is about Microsoft Office properties as described on this link : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/view-or-change-the-properties-for-an-office-file-21d604c2-481e-4379-8e54-1dd4622c6b75

    Actually we would need 2 things.

    First, we would like to insert (static) properties in our Microsoft Word templates (docx or docm), and when we generate a new document, we would like this new document to keep these properties. Today it is not the case (I've checked).

    Second, we would like the possibility to provide dynamic values for these properties, these values coming from our json datasource. Maybe this one is a bit more complex, but for example I would see the possibility to have…

  4. Support for Cell Diagonal Border for Word and PDF output

    Dear,
    please see picture - cell diagonal border is not generated in output.
    We would appreciate it at least for Car Insurance Card, which is obligatory to be of a certain look.

  5. Add support for Excel tab colors in the Windward Core .NET Engine

    Currently, the Windward Core .NET Engine does not support Excel tab colors. If a user creates an Excel template that includes colored tabs in Windward Designer, the Windward .NET Engine will generate output files with no tab coloring. Please enhance the .NET engine so that tab colors are retained when generating output.

  6. Enable Split Y-axis scale functionality in WINDWARD Word Templates

    Enable Split Y-axis functionality in WINDWARD Core.

    Example scenario -
    Large molecule (Total antibody and ADC) will have a different y-axis scale. Small molecule components will be in different y-axis scales. Both need to be plotted on the same y-axis.

  7. Show customized datalabels in charts

    In PowerPoint charts it is possible to define a set of data label values (e.g. 71*) to be displayed instead of the value score label. In the attached file I have created an example containing both a value, a linebreak and a text.
    This could be very useful in many situations, e.g. to highlight important findings in data.

  8. XLSM support

    We have a client that we generate reports for who has a macro enabled spreadsheet they want us to re-produce.

    It's been a while and I wanted to check in. Does windward still not support XLSM or any macro-enabled spreadsheets? (We're using the .NET engine).

    We would like this available so our client can use macro-enabled spreadsheets.

  10. Page Break advanced property

    Develop a Page Break advanced property for the ForEach tag that does not start with the first iteration but rather with the second iteration so that if the ForEach tag is at the beginning of the document template, a blank page does not render for that first iteration.

  11. Order by collection with subitem

    It would be interesting to be able to sort a list of objects by the value of a property of a sub-object. The ideal would be to be able to do it with any depth.
    Example: sorting a car list by its number of cylinders
    [cars].[model].[engine].[number of cylinders]

  12. Deeper level Order By (JSON)

    I'm working with a JSON data source and currently only ordering by direct children is supported. Sometimes it is useful to be able to order by on a deeper level, therefore please include this feature in a future release.

  13. Faster opening Windward templates (data source timeout)

    We often use XML data sources hosted by a local development server. When this server is not available (not started or not a developer machine), WindWard Designer takes an big amount of time to figurfe out the resource is not available. As a result, a document takes about 2 minutes per data source to open. Our documents often have 2 data sources making it 4 minutes, etc.

  14. Property or parameter for defining the decimal separator

    In earlier versions of Windward Reports the decimal separator expected in the data source was a point (".").
    The current Windward version (22) expects a decimal separator according to the given locale.
    In order to to avoid modifications in our customers' XML data sources we suggest a property (environment variable) defining the behavior regarding the decimal separator expectation:
    decimalSeparator=Point
    decimalSeparator=Comma
    decimalSeparator=Locale

  18. Support Mirosoft Word DOCM file format and Macros

    We have many Microsoft Word template with Microsoft Word Macros in them (Word > Developer > Macros).
    The templates are saved in DOCM file format.
    Currently, Windward Report Designer supports using the DOCM templates with Windward Report Designer, to create outputs successfully and to save the output in DOCM file format, but the macros are not available in the output.
    Windward Report Designer shall support Microsoft Word DOCM file format and Macros, so that the Macros can be run after output generation.

  20. Support Hidden styles in templates

    If a Document Template has hidden styles defined, then the generated document (.docx) file should generate the document with those styles hidden.

    One of our clients that generates their documents from our system using Windward, has very clearly defined corporate styles and an expectations that all of their staff will only use those styles in Word Documents to ensure that they are providing a united, consistent front for their customers.

    The templates have styles defined based on their corporate style guide. When a document is generated, the hidden styles are displayed again, which means that our customer has stopped using…
