  1. Add class HTML attribute to all HTML tags.

    The documentation at https://ohana.windwardstudios.com/m/76878/l/899627-html-and-css-tags-and-attributes-supported-by-out-tags notes that the class html attribute is only valid for the p tag. I would request that the class attribute be valid for all supported tags. This would allow me to provide easier default styling to all tags instead of having to ensure all tags of a type have a default set of style attributes.

  2. Allow windward to distinguish between duplicate tables with different schema names on same postgres database

    Postgres databases does not limit a users ability view table and column names based on user access rights (read for detail: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20201436/how-to-restrict-access-to-schemas/20202163#20202163)

    When valid duplicate table names (different schemas) exist then windward data bin places all of the fields from the duplicate tables into one table, sometimes resulting in duplicate field names or adding in fields that don't exist.

    We can work around it by editing the xml but this is counterproductive as our database is continually changing after every release.

    Please adjust windward so that schemas are used to differentiate between duplicate table names.

    We tried to duplicate this issue and were not able to. In all of our tests Windward used the schema.table.column notation, not table.column.

    If you can provide an example of this issue, that would be a bug (not a feature request) and we will fix it immediately.

    Hello Reporter,

    We have reviewed this idea internally but have decided to decline it for development. That being said, we are also interested in this functionality. We will watch this ticket in the future and other requests, and if we see more interest in this functionality in the future, we will consider it for development again. Thank you for your suggestion, and please enter any other ideas you have to improve our products!

  4. Name cells populated by forEach tag

    Make possible to name cells populated by forEach tag according to a given pattern.
    The pattern might include a prefix or a suffix with an item index to get a unique cell name.
    Additionally allow to name entire range populated by forEach tag.

  5. Expand date parsing to other standard formats

    Currently, AutoTag is able to parse dates stored in ISO format (e.g. "2017-09-12T00:00:00.000Z" stored with the toISOString JavaScript method) without any additional input from the user beyond specifying a date output format and type. However, it throws an error when other standard formats are used, such as that generated by the toDateString JavaScript method (e.g. "Tue Jan 12 2017 00:00:00 GMT-0000 (UTC)"). A workaround may be to spell out the format in the Input attribute on the tag, but this is cumbersome and not user-friendly. It would be better if AutoTag natively parsed standard formats other than ISO.

    Hello Reporter,

    We have reviewed this idea internally but it has been declined for development. The reason is that the workaround you named to specify the input format of the date is already the supported functionality. Because of this we are not focusing on further improvements to date input formats at the present time. Thank you for your suggestion, and please submit any other ideas you have to improve our products.

  6. Refresh Tags

    What if when a document was generated from a template instead of replacing the Tag with the data have the data replace the Tag friendly name. Then the generated document could be passed around modified and when all the changes are agreed upon then run the template again to get the latest values from the data source.

    Recently I've had several prospects ask for this kind of functionality and this is the only idea that I could think of that might allow users to refresh their data in generated documents.

    Hello Reporter,

    We have reviewed this idea internally but have decided to decline it for development. The reason is that this functionality would be non-trivial and risky to implement as well as it is not in the same direction as our current development efforts. Thank you very much for the suggestion, and please submit any other ideas you have to improve our products.

  7. Blank page detection

    A way to identify if blank pages could appear if a loop that spans multiple pages. Or a way to remove blank pages.

    We have been having issues surrounding this and have had many defects raised around blank pages appearing in bulk bills.

    Thank you

    Hello Reporter,

    We have reviewed this suggestion internally but we have decided to decline it. The reason is that our software is designed to do exactly what the template specifies. This can result in tricky behavior with empty or sparsely populated pages appearing in output, but usually this is a result of the template design and not due to the software. As such, we encourage users in this situation to re-visit their template design and try to resolve the issue there. Thank you for your idea, and please enter any other suggestions you have to improve our products.

  9. ForEach order='row' - Too Many Queries

    When using a ForEach order=row inside another ForEach loop the number of queries performed multiplies e.g. If you have an outer ForEach loop which retrieves 5 entries, and an inner ForEach loop with order=row you get:
    - Call to initial outer ForEach
    - Call to initial outer ForEach
    - Loop over each inner ForEach (5 calls)
    - Call to initial out For Each
    - Look over each inner ForEach (5 calls)
    .. and so on until each entry in the Outer ForEach is resolved.

    If you use legacy mode on the inner ForEach you get a single outer foreach call,…

  10. OData: build queries by use of OData expands

    The Data Bin presents the entities with its navigation properties (expand). Would be great to use the tag editor and the wizard to create queries with filters using odata expands.

  11. Odata: queried data of a forEach loop is stored in a dataset accessible later during output generation

    As you probably know, data source queries take its time and OData queries are extremely slow.
    To speed up output generation, I want to limit data source access as much as possible:
    Often I have to iterate multiple times through the same amount of data by use of a forEach tag.
    At present it is the case that I have to query the data source for each forEach loop.

    From my point of view it would be an advantage if the queried data of a forEach loop is (optionally) stored in a dataset accessible at different positions in the template…

  12. Throw exception if document output = Null

    If I design a template, and the output results in no content displayed, can Windward send a system-level notification (e.g. throw an exception in the Java engine)?

    Ideally, if the output is null, no document would be generated or sent, or Windward would communicate that the document is blank.

    Hello Reporter,

    We have reviewed this idea internally but it has been declined for development. We recommend that you check the variables for your output document that could cause it to output a blank document and use this information to make a decision before document generation instead of responding to an exception afterwards. Thank you for you suggestion, and please submit any other ideas you have to improve our product.

  13. wizard can't be used to specify repeated nodes

    If we have repeated sections e.g.
    <payments>
    <payment>
    <StartDate>30/07/2015</StartDate>
    <NumberOfPayments>1</NumberOfPayments>
    <Frequency>Monthly</Frequency>
    <Payment>4824.8207</Payment>
    <EndDate>30/07/2015</EndDate>
    </payment>
    <payment>
    <StartDate>30/08/2015</StartDate>
    <NumberOfPayments>35</NumberOfPayments>
    <Frequency>Monthly</Frequency>
    <Payment>696.29</Payment>
    <EndDate>30/06/2018</EndDate>
    </payment>
    </payments>

    And we want to specifically pick a value for the second repeated section we can tag this using payment/payment[2]/EndDate
    This cannot be done through the wizard.

  14. Bring back the Gauge Tag

    While there are a lot of chart options available in version 14 of Auto Tag, as well as native Word charts, we would love to be able to use gauges for certain data depictions. Are there any plans to bring this tag back?

  15. Highlight corresponding open and close tags when selected

    Similar to how code editors will highlight a closing bracket when an open bracket is selected (and vise-versa) to easily determine what is contained in the brackets and identify the scope of everything, I think it would be useful if the same idea was introduced with tags. For instance if a user selects and open foreach tag, then the corresponding closing foreach tag would also be highlighted.

    This would make it a lot easier with massive templates and a bunch of loop and if-conditional nesting to find what belongs to what loop or conditional. This way if a conditional block…

    Hello Reporter,

    I am happy to tell you this functionality is already supported! Select the opening tag (forEach, if, etc) and click the “Select Tag” button under the Tags section of the Windward ribbon and you will see a section of the template highlighted until the closing tag (endForEach, endIf, etc). Thank you for your suggestion, and please submit any other ideas you have to improve our product.

  16. Make Find/Replace work in header/footer

    AutoTag's Find/Replace works great in the main body of a Word document (for example, when a data source is renamed and you need to update the tags that use it), but it doesn't change anything in the header or footer. This isn't very user-friendly. A sample is attached that replicates the issue.

    I understand this is due to limitations of the Word/Office API, but if this can stay on the radar as something to fix if the Office API gets better, that would be great.

  17. Designer support for MSWord Comments

    When generating reports we would like AutoTag to provide the ability to create MSWord comments. Our reports can be quite large and require QA reviews. As part of our JSON we include a comments/notes structure. We'd like to take that JSON element and create a comment.

  20. Need Easy way to set either standard (1,321.36) or Euro (1.321,36) numeric formatting for OUT tags.

    An enhancement to the TEXT function that allows me to format numeric fields in either standard (1,321.36) or Euro (1.321,36) formats is required. The ability to select this in the "formatting" field would be perfect as I could reference a SET tag that I create based on user selections and then have one or the other formats flow through my document.
