Allow Data Validation to propagate to the new document.
Data Validation constrains the values of a cell to items in a predetermined range. This would allow selection lists to be populated by AutoTag select statements.

Hello reporter,
I am happy to report that this idea was reviewed and accepted for development. I will update this ticket again when this functionality has development started and a release date is clear.
Thank you for your idea.

Hi Adam,
I apologize for late reply to your question. I didn't notice it earlier unfortunately. Thanks for asking.
Actually, I would not like to terminate a report generation if a value is outside the range. Excel allows to keep a value out of range in case the validation is set later. Only when a user updates the value of the cell it enforces to choose from the list.
Maybe this could be an option in tag settings - terminate or not - to offer a flexible solution.

Hi Lukasz,
Can you tell us what you'd like to happen if the excel document or PDF is being populated with data outside the range or otherwise not allowed by Data Validation? Would you expect our Engine to terminate report generation?

Hello Adam,
I refer here to Data Validation feature of Excel available under Data ribbon tab.
Particularly I'd like to set up validation criteria using a List. Meaning, in a cell where the validation is applied I can enter only values from within a list. The list of allowed values comes from a specified cell range.
Unfortunately this settings done in a template Excel spreadsheet are lost during a document generation with AutoTag.Regards

Hello,
My name is Adam Jackson and I'm a Product Manager with Windward.
Can you provide us with a Use Case for this feature and maybe even a sample template? This is the first time we've heard of this Excel feature or had a request for it so we'd like to review it internally to see if it's something that may provide value to other AutoTag users. Thanks!

Yes, I'd like to see Data Validation propagated from a template to a generated document. We often use validation based on Lists. In my case it could just be a fixed cells range, nothing related to tags. Data Validation settings somehow get lost while a document is generated.

I agree this feature is very desirable as this will allow certain cells in the worksheet to be used for data input.
