Include Rich Text Control in PDF output
We want to generate PDF forms, so we are using different Word form controls. We found that plain text control is exported into the PDF output as a PDF field, however it has some limitations with text length and wrapping. We are very interested on using rich text controls, since they allow better formatting, longer and wrapped text and inserting tags inside the control to pre-fill the PDF form field.

Output of Excel column auto-filters set in template
Given that your report generator effectively generates rows of data (in Excel format), it would make sense that the ability to setup auto-filters and have them show up in the output be there as well.
As it is now, all our customers who use the output generated from our templates have to manually go into each tab and turn on the column filters, as the filters we have setup in the templates to not make it to the output.

Excel worksheet display or be dropped based on value from data
There is a need to hide or show Excel worksheet based on value we are getting. That could work with IF tag where value "true" shows tab and value "false" hides tab.

Keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts would be very helpful...Like inserting Out tag, generate a document etc. Also possibility to customize own shortcuts.

Support Hidden styles in templates
If a Document Template has hidden styles defined, then the generated document (.docx) file should generate the document with those styles hidden.
One of our clients that generates their documents from our system using Windward, has very clearly defined corporate styles and an expectations that all of their staff will only use those styles in Word Documents to ensure that they are providing a united, consistent front for their customers.
The templates have styles defined based on their corporate style guide. When a document is generated, the hidden styles are displayed again, which means that our customer has stopped using…

Property or parameter for defining the decimal separator
In earlier versions of Windward Reports the decimal separator expected in the data source was a point (".").
The current Windward version (22) expects a decimal separator according to the given locale.
In order to to avoid modifications in our customers' XML data sources we suggest a property (environment variable) defining the behavior regarding the decimal separator expectation:
decimalSeparator=Point
decimalSeparator=Comma

Deeper level Order By (JSON)
I'm working with a JSON data source and currently only ordering by direct children is supported. Sometimes it is useful to be able to order by on a deeper level, therefore please include this feature in a future release.

Ability to iterate foreach tag across tabs in excel spreadsheet
I think it would be beneficial to have the ability to iterate a foreach tag across tabs in excel. i.e. - for each row, display the data on a separate tab in the spreadsheet.

Excel dropdown lists not rendered in generated output
Would like Excel Drop-down Lists to be available in generated output. Currently available in Word templates that can be used in both Word and PDF output but not able to do this with an Excel template.

The same way you can protect a PDF with a password, it would be great if we could do it for excel files too.

Faithful chart element rendering to pdf and html
Faithful reproduction of Word rendering of charts for pdf and html, without using the Word rendering option. In particular, support all the series and series point label options, also the ability to add a "Picture or texture fill" into series "data label shapes" as a fill.

Preserve page number formatting across different sections in Word (AutoTag)
Currently in Autotag 12.5.37, when there are different sections in a Word Document that utilize different page number formats (e.g. i/ii/iii/iv/... and 1/2/3/4/...) and a document is generated from a data source, the formatting in the template does not come through and all page numbers default to the 1/2/3/4/... format, resulting in confusion for the reader.
Allowing for this capability will make it easier for Autotag users to maintain a more refined template where readers can more easily identify the section that they are reading and reduces rework for Autotag users.

It would be interesting to be able to sort a list of objects by the value of a property of a sub-object. The ideal would be to be able to do it with any depth.

Improve Import tag handling of bad/missing data
Currently, if the Import tag is passed bad data (e.g. an image file doesn't exist or is an unsupported format), the only apparent way to prevent the report from breaking altogether is to set a default image. But what if we don't want a default image and just want the tag to be ignored if it doesn't like the data? Or what if the default image to be shown is also data-dependent?

It would be great if we could add an array-type variable of either String or Number type as an input variable. This could be used to filter datasources with a IN statement, for example.

Support Mirosoft Word DOCM file format and Macros
We have many Microsoft Word template with Microsoft Word Macros in them (Word > Developer > Macros).
The templates are saved in DOCM file format.
Currently, Windward Report Designer supports using the DOCM templates with Windward Report Designer, to create outputs successfully and to save the output in DOCM file format, but the macros are not available in the output.
Windward Report Designer shall support Microsoft Word DOCM file format and Macros, so that the Macros can be run after output generation.4 votes -
Different PDF converter/convert through Word
We are having a lot differences between the Word output and that generated by Windward PDF. Spacing can be different and sometimes the PDF does things wrong that Word does correctly, such as text going through a footer or the PDF not breaking the page correctly when using Keep with Next. It seems to me a lot of defelopment time goes into trying to make the PDF output better.
In literally every instant, the PDF from Word's Export feature worked correctly. Also, the output is half the file size, which is also very important for us.
