    Hello Reporter,

This idea has been declined for development due to lack of votes. If we receive additional votes indicating larger market need we will re-consider this functionality for development. Thank you for your suggestion and pleas submit any other ideas you have to improve our software.

  2. Support new chart types in Office 2016

Windward doesn't currently support the new chart types introduced in Office 2016, for example Treemap and Sunburst.
    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/available-chart-types-in-office-a6187218-807e-4103-9e0a-27cdb19afb90

From Windward Support: 'They are implemented in Excel differently than the older chart types, and Windward literally doesn't "see" them.'

Including these chart types in a template results in a corrupt report. The data still generates however any sheets containing charts are blank.

The workaround is to have an Excel template containing these charts point to an external datasource, which is generated by Windward. This is not practical for our end-users who need point-and-click reports.

    Hello reporter,

We are declining this idea for the time being. This is a very large amount of work to implement, and is divergent from our current development goals. I have put a ticket into our backlog to add support to these new chart types. If you have a specific chart type that is a higher priority for you, please enter an additional idea for that chart specifically. If you have multiple charts that are higher priority, you can enter multiple tickets. This will help us make sure, if we do develop support for one of these charts, we do the one that will make the biggest difference! Thank you for your suggestion, and please enter any other ideas you have to improve our products.

  3. Generate HTML output in multipart MIME format

One of the things we use the Windward Engine for is to generate HTML (based on templates) that is then sent out via email.
But a lot of mail clients don't support the way the Engine handles <img> tags (with the src property as an inline base64 encoded string).
Since multipart MIME is supported by many more mail clients, it would be great if the Windward Engine could generate its output in multipart MIME format!

    Hello Reporter,

We have reviewed this internally and decided to decline it for upcoming development due to lack of votes. That being said, we are also interested in this functionality and how it might enhance our products. We will keep our eyes on this idea in the future to see if it gains additional support or if similar ideas are entered. Thank you for your suggestion, and please enter any other ideas you have to improve our products.

  4. More efficient compression options.

When using Windward's java engine to export to PDF, the only available method for compressing output files is "setCompressionLevel". This method in our experience only shrinks files about 21.5%. In addition to this issue, when generating a windward PDF, the uncompressed file is almost 2x the size of the file if we were to make the file by hand and manually "export to pdf" from MS Word. As a test, we did this and then used Adobe Pro to compress the file. We were then able to compress the file an additional 68.2% with no noticeable quality loss.

    We would…

    Hello Reporter,

After reviewing this feature request, we understand the desire for the functionality but need to see if there is greater demand before we invest time in development. If this idea gains more votes we will re-asses the idea in the future to see if there is sufficient demand.

Thank you for your idea and please submit any other ideas you may have!

  5. Support QuickStyles with DOCX template and DOCX output

If the style checkbox "quickstyle" is checked in the template, it should not be unchecked in the final report.

    Hello Reporter,

We have reviewed this idea internally but have declined it for development currently. We have seen some other requests related to carrying properties into Excel output recently, so even though we declined this for current development, we will keep our ears open for related requests in the future and may plan development on this then. If we do plan development on this idea, I will update the ticket then. Thank you for your idea, and please submit any other suggestions you have to improve our products!

  6. Add ways to control report resource usage such as setMaxPages and setMaxMemory

I would love to be able to set limitations on the report engine's resource utilization to cut down on poorly written templates consuming too many resources. setMaxMemory or setMaxPages should be callable on processReport as a way to limit what the report generates.

    Hello Reporter,

We have reviewed this idea internally but declined it for development due to lack of votes. While we are not planning to develop these functions for max pages/memory, we do already offer a parameter for the report object to set a timeout during output for these cases: dotnetdoc.windwardstudios.com/topic457.html
Thank you very much for your suggestion, and please enter any other ideas you have to improve our product.
